Well, you’ve got to love a book that teaches you something and gives you some laughs at the same time. My favorite line is from Chapter Among all the supposed fun are some well articulated and simple rules that might help make grammar easier for the long-bullied. In this collection of hilarious anecdotes and essays, June Casagrande delivers practical language lessons not found anywhere else, demystifying the subject and taking it back from the snobs.
A funny and easy going book about grammar that confirmed my uncomfortable suspicion about myself: Amazon Music Stream millions of songs. This leads to the only true complaint that I have. OK, so, yes, this is a grammar book. As I mentioned earlier, her jokes hit the mark for the most part, but there are a few that fall flat.
While I did appreciate the bottom-line messages of her book trust yourself, and a lot of the time there is no single right answershe didn’t really provide a lot of learning or demonstrate any particular knowledge. She is funny though, after a while, the “outsider” shtick gets a little old.

Sometimes Casagrande gets too sidetracked with her humor and stories. I’m impressed that the author became a success despite dropping out of school in the ninth grade. Even though grammar is usually a dry subject, she somehow found a way to make it humorous. The author also doesn’t assume you know the arcane language of grammar, something I was only exposed to in my 30’s studying Japanese. More of her writing available here:
